Simpson Comedy Show - Joe Simpson, father and manager of pop stars Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, is developing a Nickelodeon comedy series loosely based on his real-life experience as a psychologist raising two daughters in Texas.

The untitled project centers on one of the daughters who begins imitating her father and giving life advice to other kids in her school.

Emily Cutler (ABC's "Carpoolers") is writing the script, with Simpson and veteran tween and teen series producer Tommy Lynch executive producing.

Following his daughters' success, Simpson has segued into producing, shepherding Jessica and Ashlee's TV projects and, most recently, the ABC drama series "Women's Murder Club."

Lynch has a long-standing relationship with Nickelodeon, having produced such Nick series as "South of Nowhere," "Romeo!" and most recently "The Troop."

Jessica Simpson and Billy Corgan have called off their relationship.

The Smashing Pumpkins rocker is said to have grown weary of the attention their brief romance attracted, but has promised to remain friends with the singer-and-actress and he will still help with her new album .

A source close to Jessica, 29, said: "Jessica loved spending so much time in and out of the studio with Billy. She's in awe of his musical prowess, and it adds to her feelings for him, but they are not dating.

"Dating Jessica publicly can be intense. Billy maintains a quiet, private music-focused life and the taste of publicity he got while being with Jessica was an eye opener.

"Billy likes Jessica, but he will work to keep their relationship as it is and focus on the music. They are not getting serious, but Jessica has had so much fun with him."
